“Young
men uniting in hopes of making a difference in their school and community...A group of young men with ambitions and unselfish motives,
aspiring to uplift those around them, set an example, and build leaders in
the process...” It began with
a vision. Together; Gordon Clarke, Ian Parsons, and Marquis Parsons put this dream into effect. They all wanted more than
what was being offered in the existing service clubs at the time. So instead of settling, they created. The original name
was United Brothers. It consisted of 12 gentlemen. The idea of Sigma was now being formed, a service club with a purpose.
Then, on one Ice Cold night, December 13, 1996 the legacy began. The first male line was crossed. Twelve days later, on December 25, 2005 the Sophisticated Sisters were introduced to the Tau Alpha Chapter
of Sigma Phi Nu. The dream was now reality.
Sigma started with only twenty-two members. It has
grown and taken in over 230 members in the past nine years. We are a service club built on “true serving”. It
is our desire, as members of a generation most commonly considered “lost”, to be an example by making positive
impacts on the people around us-and also ourselves. We focus ourselves on the bonds of sister and brotherhood. “We can
make it together!” In short, Sigma is preparing the youth of today for a brighter tomorrow.
